Brazil: Over 1,100 Lawsuits Filed Against Betting Sites Since 2022

According to an exclusive report by Predictus, between 2022 and 2025, 1,156 lawsuits were filed against betting companies in Brazilian courts — a number expected to keep rising.
In 2022, there were only 21 such cases. By mid-2025, the number had skyrocketed to 554 lawsuits, marking a 2,538% increase.
São Paulo tops the list of legal disputes against betting operators
The states with the most lawsuits are:

São Paulo (291 cases),

Rio de Janeiro (167),

Bahia (125),

Minas Gerais (119).
These four states account for 60% of all lawsuits filed. Bahia stands out as an exception — despite having a smaller population than Minas Gerais, its high volume of cases may suggest a stronger gambling culture, according to Predictus.

80% of lawsuits are still ongoing
Out of the 1,156 lawsuits:

Of the 103 cases already judged, 55% ruled in favor of the betting sites, while 45% favored the bettors (either partially or fully).
