World Cup Clubs Sign Deals with Betting Companies

Brazil – June 18, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com The exponential growth of sports betting in Brazil is driven by the close relationship between football and betting operators. However, this trend is far from exclusive to Brazil.
Out of the 32 clubs participating in the new FIFA Club World Cup, 17 have some type of partnership with companies in the betting industry. This statistic highlights the global expansion of commercial deals between football clubs and betting companies.
These partnerships already dominate the Brazilian market and are expanding across Latin America. In South America, clubs from nearly all Latin countries are involved in similar sponsorships.
Among the four Brazilian teams playing in the tournament—Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Palmeiras—all showcase betting brands as main sponsors. The trend continues with Argentine giants Boca Juniors and River Plate.
In Europe, only Inter Milan and FC Porto have similar arrangements, prominently featuring betting brands on their kits—Inter with Betssom, and Porto with Betano.
FIFA regulations allow clubs to display a betting sponsor on their jerseys, as well as a secondary sponsor on the shirt sleeves, as long as it is pre-approved. Some clubs have taken advantage of this rule to further highlight betting brands.
In fact, the tournament itself is officially sponsored by Betano, reinforcing the idea that, despite debates on regulation and restrictions in some countries, the relationship between top clubs and betting companies continues to grow worldwide.
