Zona de Azar Argentina – Argentina San Juan: Food Debtors Prohibited from Entering Casinos and Bingos

Argentina.- July 1, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com The Legislature of San Juan approved a law (No. 13944) that prohibits food debtors and those who fail to comply with family assistance obligations, duly registered in special lists, from entering casinos , game rooms and bingos in this Argentine province.

The project was presented by Deputy Juan de la Cruz Córdoba together with the Cambia San Juan Interblock and approved during the Fifth Session of the Legislature, chaired by Vice Governor Fabián Martín.

The goal of this law is to protect the rights of children affected by the financial irresponsibility of their parents, who often spend money on gambling instead of meeting their child support obligations. To prepare this law, we worked together with the Social Action Fund, the casino union, the provincial Judiciary and family courts, as well as the Human Development and Legislation and Constitutional Affairs commissions.

Legislator Córdoba explained that the law provides tools to judges to force debtors to comply with their legal obligations. Representative Fernanda Paredes and Representative Mario Herrero also expressed their support for the project.

The law establishes in its article 1 the prohibition of entry to these places for food debtors and in article 2 that the Judiciary must guarantee that the concessionaires of these establishments have access to the corresponding registry. Finally, article 3 provides that the Social Action Fund, or the body that replaces it, is responsible for ensuring compliance with this law.
