Brazil.- June 5, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com   In an interview with Projeto Prisma, from Bahia Notícias, this Monday (03), senator Angelo Coronel (PSD-BA), recalled his participation in the project that regulated the use of Bets for sports betting.

“Today, games are part of Brazilians’ daily lives. Of the 20 largest countries in the world, there were only three countries that had not yet legalized: Indonesia and Saudi Arabia for religious reasons and Brazil.

Italy, which is a small country in relation to Brazil, has 1.5 of its GDP as a result of games, they are an economic activity. I didn’t invent having a game. There are people who criticize me and say that gambling is the devil’s business, it brings prostitution,” he explained.

The senator came out in defense of the consumption of sports betting and reiterated that there is nothing more to do about a practice that is already rooted in current Brazilian culture. Coronel, using significant data, aligned the use of bets with marketing and sponsorship actions, as another way of generating income for the country.

“What I want is for them to pay the tax, because we are not going to be able to take gambling away from the daily lives of the Brazilian people, that is impossible, there are no police who will arrest them, mainly because it takes place on the internet and you have no way of knowing where it takes place. . Every day a new house appears, there are more than two thousand bets in Brazil”, highlighted the senator.

“Every club today has a bet. The football stadiums are all sponsored by Bet. Today the biggest sponsor of the Brazilian mainstream media is bets. How do you have this new source of income and want to stop making income due to custom and religion? God is God for everyone, and I’m sure that if he were to materialize, he wouldn’t be against the game at all. I have no doubts about that”, he concluded. Source
