Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: CPI Will Hear Presidents of Tombense and Londrina on Suspicion of Manipulation

Brazil.- July 1, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com The presidents of Tombense Futebol Clube, Lane Gaviolle, and Londrina Esporte Clube, Getúlio Marques Castilho, were invited to give testimony to the Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI) on Game Manipulation and Sports Betting in a meeting scheduled for Wednesday (3), starting at 2pm.

The statements were requested by the president of the commission, senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO), through requests REQ 3/2024-CPIMJAE and REQ 4/2024-CPIMJAE. In them, the senator highlights that a match between Tombense and Londrina, held on May 19, 2023 in Series B of the Brazilian Championship, is being investigated by the Superior Court of Sports Justice for Football (STJD) on suspicion of result manipulation.

“Brazilian football is facing a critical moment, in which the lack of transparency and suspicion of match-fixing threaten to demoralize the national sport,” says Kajuru.
