Brazil.- May 21, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com The Chamber of Deputies announced the creation of the Permanent Subcommittee for the Regulation of Sports Betting, which will operate within the scope of the Sports Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.

The Subcommittee will be installed next Wednesday the 22nd and was requested by federal deputy Luciano Vieira (PL-RJ).

On Wednesday the 22nd, the president of the group will be elected, however, there is still no work plan for the subcommittee, as well as what topics the group will work on.

As we know, the regulation of betting is the responsibility of the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting, of the Ministry of Finance.

The group’s applicant, Luciano Vieira (Photo), commented on the importance of the subcommittee’s objective of market growth in the national territory. Vieira stated that it is “essential to present new legislation that actively regulates sporting events and that Brazilian fans have full assurance that the results of the matches are based exclusively on the technical capacity of the teams, leaving no doubt about bribery and manipulation.” .

“The intervention of the State in this matter is necessary to prevent fans from losing interest in watching the events, also to prevent Brazilians from suffering financial damage through manipulated bets and to avoid a decline in the economy due to the fall of the sports market,” the federal deputy said.

The regulation of sports betting is in a process of improvement and adaptation since the signing of the Law at the end of December last year. As a result, companies have been adapting to the guidelines imposed by the law, so that regulation can occur in a gradual and healthy manner for operators and clients.
