This agreement focuses on the exchange of information and intelligence between the two organizations. Its goal is to improve consumer safety, combat criminal behavior, and address the increase in harm caused by excessive gambling.

Andrew Rhodes, CEO of the UKGC, described the agreement as a symbol of the ongoing collaboration between the two entities. “We welcome this agreement as a sign of our ongoing collaboration between the MGA and UKGC. We have been working closely for some time, and after our successful visit this summer, it is appropriate to formalize our working relationship.”

UKGC and MGA Join Forces to Develop Player Protection Measures

Rhodes also emphasized that the aim is to raise industry standards by addressing common challenges such as illegal gambling. Moreover, they plan to explore future collaborations, including monitoring initiatives and addressing key issues related to anti-money laundering efforts and sports betting integrity.

Charles Mizzi, CEO of the MGA, said: “Our long-standing informal collaboration with the UKGC has already produced significant results, and formalizing this cooperation is certainly a step in the right direction.

In line with our regulatory objectives, we are confident that this collaboration will allow us to tackle common challenges more effectively, continuously improving the effectiveness of our processes and structure.”

Fighting Harm Caused by Online Gambling

The commission’s recent strategy aims to reduce activities in the black market. It prioritizes methods such as removing URLs from search results. Additionally, it includes restricting payment methods and blocking access to illegal sites.

These measures showcase the regulators’ joint effort. The goal is to create a safer gambling environment to protect consumers.
