USA.- July 11th 2022 www.zonadeazar.com The gaming industry is starting to get wise to just how big an audience women can be. A recent study by Global Wireless Solutions suggests US women are signing up for sports betting rates at a rate faster than men.
The study found 4.6 million new female users in 2021. That is an uptick of 115% from the year prior.
Women in gaming have known for some time the importance of reaching out to female customers. However, women often don’t get a seat at the table to voice these insights.
Global Gaming Women (GGW) board member and non-executive director at Entain Virginia McDowell put it best when speaking to Martin Lycka earlier this month.
“We don’t have a problem with women in the gaming industry. The industry is actually 50% female, and this has been demonstrated in studies that the American Gaming Association and other organizations have done going back decades. The industry is generally 50% female,” McDowell observed. “The problem is women are tremendously underrepresented in management.”
GGW is on a mission to help remedy that problem. With resources like the All-In Diversity Index and a series of networking events, GGW offers women in gaming a chance to make connections as well as hold companies accountable for hiring practices.
That outreach continues next month at SBC Summit North America. There will be a special event just for women to connect and talk with other women from the industry. Any GGW member with an SBC conference badge is welcome to attend the networking breakfast.
