Data released Tuesday by the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) show Hard Rock in November once again tallied more “win,” or revenue after paying successful bettors, than any of the 11 other commercial casinos in the Hoosier State for a 25th consecutive month.

Hard Rock tallied $37.2 million in win last month — a 5.1% increase compared to its November 2022 win of $35.4 million, according to the IGC.

The Gary gaming, dining and entertainment destination also accounted for nearly 20% of the state’s $190.8 million in total casino win for the eleventh month of 2023.

Matt Schuffert, president of Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana, described November as “an exciting month at Hard Rock Northern Indiana.”

“Led by a strong entertainment calendar, new gaming products and seasonal food and beverage menus, we continue to see volumes grow year over year. It is amazing to see the continued growth,” Schuffert said.

“We look forward to closing out a strong 2023, highlighted by a free New Year’s Eve concert on our Hard Rock Café stage by Sugar Ray.”

Records show Hard Rock’s state-leading slot machine play totaled $253.6 million in November, with a state-best win of $25.8 million; compared to November 2022 slot win of $23.3 million on $235.5 million in play.

In addition, the Gary casino led the state for November table game play, primarily baccarat, with $48.6 million, and was tops in table win at $11.4 million.

To put that in perspective, more money was wagered at Hard Rock table games in November than the tables at the three other Northwest Indiana casinos combined ($40.6 million), records show.

According to the IGC, the state’s former earnings leader, Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, last month ranked third in the state behind its Horseshoe Indianapolis sister property with $22.8 million in win — down 11.3% from its November 2022 win of $25.8 million.

Monthly win at Ameristar Casino in East Chicago fell 13.3% to $13.1 million in November compared with $15.2 million for the same month in the prior year.

Last month’s win at Blue Chip Casino, in Michigan City, totaled $9.8 million versus $10.1 million last November, a decrease of 3%, according to the IGC.

The popularity of sports wagering on Hoosiers’ mobile devices and at sports books inside the state’s casinos soared to a new record in November, even as more of Indiana’s neighboring states get into the game.

The statewide online and retail sports wagering handle was $513.7 million last month, compared with $452.3 million in November 2022. The previous all-time monthly record was $500.1 million in January 2022.

In total, Indiana in November collected $48.6 million in tax revenue from slot machine and table game play, and $2.9 million from settled sports wagers, according to the IGC.
