Bernstein Sees Kalshi and Polymarket as Future Acquisition Targets

United States.- 2 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Investment research firm Bernstein believes Kalshi and Polymarket could become acquisition targets as the prediction market industry continues to consolidate. According to the report, the integration of technology infrastructure, customer distribution and exchange services is reshaping competition across the sector.

News Details

In a report led by analyst Ian Moore, Bernstein notes that, over the past eight months, the leading prediction market platforms have increasingly taken control of customer distribution, brokerage, exchange infrastructure and clearing services, reducing reliance on third-party providers.

This vertical integration is creating a competitive landscape in which technology-driven companies with limited customer reach, such as Kalshi and Polymarket, may become attractive acquisition targets for larger consumer-facing operators.

The report also highlights recent strategic moves by DraftKings, which acquired Railbird to launch DKeX, Robinhood, which developed Rothera, Coinbase, which acquired The Clearing Company, and Flutter, which restructured its operations to maintain access to multiple exchanges.

Industry Context

The convergence of exchanges, brokerages, financial platforms and betting operators is accelerating the evolution of prediction markets. By controlling a larger share of the value chain, companies are strengthening profitability while creating favourable conditions for increased merger and acquisition activity.

Statements

Bernstein analysts concluded that Kalshi and Polymarket “own the stack but trail on distribution, which leaves each as plausibly a target as an acquirer.”

Next Steps or Impact

Should vertical integration continue, the prediction market sector is expected to experience a new wave of mergers and acquisitions. Consolidation could enable major operators to strengthen their positions within one of the fastest-growing segments of both gaming and financial markets.
