Brazil: Court Orders Suspension of Pixbet Platforms in Brazil
Brazil.- 17 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com A court in Paraíba has ordered the nationwide suspension of platforms operated by Pixbet Soluções Tecnológicas Ltda. until the company proves that effective safeguards preventing underage access have been implemented.
Judge João Lucas Souto Gil Messias, who presides over the Childhood and Youth Court of Campina Grande, gave the company 48 hours from notification to take its platforms offline.
The order covers Pixbet, Flabet and Bet da Sorte, as well as any other betting platforms operated by the company.
Penalty for non-compliance
Failure to comply could result in a daily fine of R$100,000, initially capped at R$100 million.
The judge also ordered the decision to be communicated to Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency, Anatel, which may block access to the platforms if the company does not comply voluntarily.
The Ministry of Finance’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting and Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority must also be notified so they can take any relevant action.
Protection of children and young people
The decision followed a public civil action brought by Father Júlio Renato Lancellotti, the Francisco de Assis Association and the Padre Ezequiel Ramin Human Rights Defence Centre.
The claimants argued that the platforms lacked sufficiently effective safeguards to prevent children and teenagers from gaining access using identification belonging to parents, guardians or third parties.
The ruling refers to Brazil’s Federal Constitution, the Child and Adolescent Statute, the Digital Child and Adolescent Statute and Interministerial Ordinance 73/2026.
Conditions for resuming operations
The suspension will remain in place until the company demonstrates to the court that additional technological safeguards have been introduced.
The required measures include facial recognition with proof of life at every login and financial transaction, biometric checks against official databases and the automatic blocking of registrations using identification belonging to minors.
The proceedings are registered under case number 0868998-67.2024.8.15.2001. The court order remains subject to appeal.
