Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: Prize and Betting Secretariat to Collaborate with the Subsecretariat of Authorizations

Brazil.-  August 23, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com  Ordinance SPA/MF No. 1,309, dated August 20, 2024, establishes the temporary collaboration of various units within the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting with the Subsecretariat of Authorizations.

This collaboration includes the Secretariat’s Office, the Subsecretariat of Monitoring and Inspection, and the Subsecretariat of Sanctioning Actions, with activities focused on analyzing requests for authorization for the commercial exploitation of sports betting and online games, as well as preparing technical reports.

The ordinance, signed by Secretary Regis Dudena, took effect on the date of its publication and will remain in force until December 31, 2024.

THE SECRETARY OF PRIZES AND BETTING OF THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE, in the exercise of the powers conferred by art. 55, item II, of Annex I, of Decree No. 11,907, dated January 30, 2024, and in view of the provisions of Law No. 14,790, dated December 29, 2023, in Ordinance No. 1,330, dated October 26, 2023, of the Minister of Finance, and in Ordinance No. 827, dated May 21, 2024, of the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance, resolves:

Art. 1 This Ordinance provides for the temporary collaboration of other units of the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting with the Subsecretariat of Authorizations.

Art. 2 The permanent public servants working in the following units of the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting shall begin collaborating with the Subsecretariat of Authorizations:

I – Office of the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting; II – Subsecretariat of Monitoring and Inspection; and III – Subsecretariat of Sanctioning Actions.

Sole Paragraph. The collaboration referred to in the caput shall last from the entry into force of this Ordinance until December 31, 2024.

Art. 3 The collaboration referred to in art. 2 shall consist of activities related to:

I – analysis of requests for authorization for the commercial exploitation of the fixed-odds betting lottery modality by economic agents; and II – preparation of technical reports to support decision-making on authorization requests.

Sole Paragraph. The final report approving the authorization shall be the responsibility of the Subsecretariat of Authorizations.

Art. 4 This Ordinance takes effect on the date of its publication.
