On Tuesday (6), the Teresópolis City Council approved the creation of the “Sorte Teresópolis” Lottery, a new autonomous public agency linked to the Municipal Department of Sports and Leisure. The lottery will operate with its own revenue, legal authority, and administrative independence, aiming to fund critical areas such as health, education, culture, and social inclusion.

According to the local government, the first public call for licensing will be issued within six months. The initiative will comply strictly with federal lottery regulations in Brazil.

The project amends Municipal Law 1.441/93 and creates key administrative roles, including President (R$ 5,986.22), Legal, Administrative, and Operational Directors (R$ 1,915.13 each). A Governing Council will manage lottery funds, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accountability.

Operators will also be required to promote responsible gambling and uphold sports integrity, strictly within the legal modalities defined by federal law.
