CEsp to Debate Betting Advertising Restrictions this Wednesday (9)

Brazil.- April 8, 2025 www.zonadeazar.com  The Sports Commission (CEsp) will hold a public hearing this Wednesday (9) at 10:30 AM to discuss two bills addressing advertising for sports betting, commonly known as “bets.”

The hearing was requested by Senators Jorge Kajuru (PSB–GO), Carlos Portinho (PL–RJ), Eduardo Girão (Novo–CE), and Romário (PL–RJ). They argue that it is necessary to debate the social and economic effects of gambling advertising, particularly among young people and vulnerable populations.

The bills under discussion are PL 2.985/2023, proposed by Senator Styvenson Valentim (PSDB–RN), and PL 3.405/2023, proposed by Senator Eduardo Girão. Both proposals seek to amend Law 13.756 of 2018 to impose restrictions on betting advertising and marketing.

Confirmed guests for the hearing include:

  • Yane Marques, Vice President of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB);

  • Thiago Henrique Cunha Basílio, Public Defender of the State of Rio de Janeiro;

  • Rodrigo Saraiva Marinho, Executive Director of the Instituto Livre Mercado;

  • Alexandre Fonseca, CEO of Superbet Brazil.
