Zona de Azar USA – Maryland Casinos Report Fourth-Best Month Ever in March

USA.- April 7th 2022 www.zonadeazar.com Maryland’s casinos reported a combined $170.6 million in gaming revenue during March 2022 — a haul state gaming officials say is the fourth-best single-month figure in the history of the state’s casino program.

Revenue rose a total of $966,000 from March 2021, a time when a 50% Covid capacity restriction was still in place at the state’s six casinos. The restriction was lifted for four casinos on March 12, 2021. Capacity limits for MGM National Harbor and Horseshoe Casino were raised from 25% to 50% during March 2021 under local jurisdiction orders.

The increase in revenue from slots and table games came mostly on the strength of the state’s largest casinos, Live Casino & Hotel in Hanover and MGM National Harbor in Prince George’s County.

The Cordish Cos.’ Live casino pulled in $62 million last month, an increase of $976,765 — or 1.6% — from March 2021. MGM reported $67.8 million in revenue in March, an increase of $1.3 million — or 1.9% — from March 2021.

The other winners included Western Maryland’s Rocky Gap Casino, which saw an increase of $56,667 from March 2021 and Ocean Downs Casino on the Eastern Shore, which saw a jump of $213,080 during the same time.

The news wasn’t so good for Baltimore’s Horseshoe Casino or Cecil County’s Hollywood Casino.

Horseshoe reported $18.9 million in revenue in March, a drop of $903,310 — or 4.6% from March 2021. And Hollywood Casino reported $8.4 million in March 2022, a 2.6% or $228,737 decrease from March 2021.

Maryland Lottery and Gaming, the agency responsible for oversight of the state’s casinos, does not include revenue from sports betting in its monthly slots and table game revenue report.
