Buenos Aires Casino Workers Secure 7% Pay Rise
Argentina.- 15 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Workers at Buenos Aires Province’s casinos have reached a collective bargaining agreement providing a 7% salary increase, alongside improvements to family allowances, bonuses and progress towards permanent employment status. The agreement followed negotiations held on 13 July between the Casino Cleaning and Services Association (AMS) and the provincial government.
News Details
The wage increase will be implemented in two stages: 5% from July and a further 2% from August, both calculated on June 2026 salary scales. The adjustment applies to category allowances, remuneration bonuses established under Decree 1431/09, casino regularisation bonuses, cash-handling supplements and relocation allowances.
The agreement also updates income thresholds for family allowances. From 1 July, the maximum household income will be ARS 3,531,182, while the individual income ceiling will be ARS 1,765,591. From 1 August, those limits will increase to ARS 3,598,448 and ARS 1,799,224, respectively.
Regarding job stability, the provincial government confirmed that eligible temporary employees will be transferred to permanent positions on 1 October 2026, provided the required documentation is submitted before 15 August. The Compensatory Bonus will also increase from 24% to 27.5% from 1 September, subject to review, while an additional relocation payment during annual leave will be introduced for employees working at satellite casinos for more than nine months.
Industry Context
The agreement forms part of the wider public-sector wage negotiations taking place across Buenos Aires Province. Beyond salary adjustments, the casino agreement also advances long-standing demands concerning employment stability and improvements to sector-specific benefits.
Statements
The AMS leadership stated:
âThese results are the consequence of workers’ participation in union action.â
The union added that it will continue pursuing additional demands relating to working conditions, QR system implementation, casino licensing processes and other sector issues.
Next Steps or Impact
Permanent appointments will begin in October for employees meeting the required administrative conditions. Meanwhile, the union and provincial authorities will continue discussions on broader employment issues affecting Buenos Aires casino workers.
