Argentina.- 18 August 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com Corrientes’ Ministry of Education and the provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos, known as Lotería Correntina, have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly implement the Responsible Gambling Programme in educational institutions across the province.

The initiative is designed to strengthen prevention, awareness and education around problematic gambling, with particular attention to the risks associated with online betting.

Prevention Through Education

The agreement places schools at the centre of preventive policies addressing gambling-related harm and risks within digital environments.

Activities will target not only students but also teachers and families, with the aim of providing tools to understand potential harms and encourage safer, more responsible behaviour.

Educational Tools and Training

The programme will include several initiatives, including:

  • Educational activities.
  • Training sessions.
  • Content-production competitions.
  • In-person workshops.
  • Digital resources.
  • Webinars.
  • Communication campaigns.
  • Audiovisual content.

The objective is to encourage critical, safe and responsible use of digital environments while strengthening prevention across the wider educational community.

Role of the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education will play a strategic role in developing the programme from a comprehensive educational perspective.

Its responsibilities will include designing content specifically aimed at preventing problematic gambling and online betting.

The approach is intended to address the issue before risky behaviours become established.

Lotería Correntina’s Participation

Corrientes’ Institute of Lotteries and Casinos will also participate directly in implementation.

The regulator will contribute to workshop design and take part in in-person activities, webinars, communication campaigns, digital resources and audiovisual productions with province-wide reach.

It will also provide supplies, prizes and equipment required for the activities included in the programme.

Agreement Signatories

The cooperation agreement was signed by Corrientes Education Minister Ana Miño and Lotería Correntina administrator Héctor Javier Bee Sellares.

The partnership is intended to combine educational expertise with specialist knowledge of the gambling sector to create a coordinated provincial prevention strategy.

Industry Context

The expansion of online betting is increasing the focus of Argentine authorities on protecting children and teenagers and developing preventative tools before they reach the legal gambling age.

Within this context, schools provide an important setting for digital literacy, risk awareness and the development of responsible online habits.

Next Steps or Impact

Implementation of the Responsible Gambling Programme will extend preventive initiatives to educational institutions throughout Corrientes.

Its province-wide scope and joint involvement of the Ministry of Education and Lotería Correntina are intended to turn prevention into an ongoing educational policy involving students, teachers and families.

The initiative also reflects a wider trend towards addressing the risks associated with online betting at an earlier stage through the education system.
