Former NBA Player Malik Beasley Pleads Not Guilty in Sports Betting

USA.- July 03, 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Former NBA player Malik Beasley pleaded not guilty in a federal court in Brooklyn to charges alleging that he manipulated his performances during several games in the 2023/24 season to benefit sports bettors and reduce personal debts. The case is part of a broader federal investigation into corruption linked to sports betting in the United States.

Investigation Focuses on Manipulated Player Performances

According to the indictment, Beasley allegedly agreed to alter his performance in at least four games while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, influencing wagers placed on individual player statistics (prop bets). In return, prosecutors claim he received bribes and debt relief from former NBA player Ed Davis.

Federal authorities also allege that sports agent Paolo Zamorano and several other individuals participated in the scheme and now face charges including wire fraud, sports bribery, and money laundering.

Beasley Released on Bail

During the hearing, the 29-year-old former guard entered a formal plea of not guilty. He was later released on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court in August. His legal team stated that Beasley intends to prove his innocence throughout the judicial process.

Case Expands Federal Sports Betting Investigation

The prosecution is part of a wider federal investigation that has already resulted in multiple arrests related to alleged sports manipulation and illegal betting operations. The case once again highlights concerns over sports integrity and regulatory oversight of player proposition betting markets in U.S. professional sports.
