Hipódromo Palermo Celebrates 150 Years of History

Buenos Aires.– May 2026 – www.zonadeazar.com Hipódromo Palermo celebrates its 150th anniversary with a historic transformation that redefines its identity and projects a new era focused on integrated entertainment, innovation and greater openness to the community.

Overview

Hipódromo Palermo marks its 150th anniversary by turning this milestone into much more than a historical celebration. Under the new institutional campaign “Hipódromo de Todos. Hipódromo Palermo”, the iconic venue in Buenos Aires unveils a renewed visual and strategic identity reflecting its evolution into a modern entertainment ecosystem.

With a new logo, a contemporary narrative and a future-oriented growth plan, Hipódromo Palermo aims to strengthen its position as one of the most important meeting and entertainment spaces in Argentina and Latin America.

The celebrations officially began on May 1st with the Gran Premio República, a historic event that brought together more than 100,000 people at the venue, a figure not seen in many years. Live shows, gastronomic experiences, barbecue festivals, family activities and top-level horse racing marked the beginning of the celebrations that will continue throughout 2026.

Details / Context

Since its inauguration on May 7th, 1876, Hipódromo Palermo has played a central role in the social, cultural and sporting development of Buenos Aires. What originally started as the great cathedral of Argentine horse racing gradually expanded into a multifunctional entertainment destination.

Following its privatization and redevelopment process in 1992, the venue entered a stage of continuous modernization that strengthened both its traditional racing activities and the development of new large-scale entertainment experiences.

In recent years, this transformation accelerated with a vision focused on integrating multiple experiences within the same environment: horse racing, casino gaming, gastronomy, cultural events, outdoor activities and urban gathering spaces.

“Hipódromo was born as the cathedral of horse racing and evolved alongside the city of Buenos Aires. We have been working on this transformation for a long time and, within the framework of our 150th anniversary, we are taking another step to project it into the future. Hipódromo Palermo is much more than horse racing: it is a comprehensive entertainment space that we will continue opening up so it truly becomes the Hipódromo for Everyone,” said Alberto D’Audia, General Manager of Hipódromo Palermo.

A Vision for the Future

Hipódromo Palermo’s new stage is supported by a growth strategy built on three fundamental pillars.

The first focuses on opening the venue further to the community by strengthening the property as an urban entertainment park where cultural, sporting, gastronomic and recreational experiences coexist alongside its green spaces.

The second pillar aims to explore new proposals through innovative experiences, digital tools and entertainment formats adapted to increasingly diverse audiences.

Finally, the third pillar seeks to improve the visitor journey by deepening the integration between physical and digital experiences, simplifying navigation and creating more personalized interactions.

“Our vision is to lead entertainment in the city with an increasingly complete proposal. The 150th anniversary represents a turning point and drives us to accelerate along this path with more innovation, more alternatives and a more integrated experience,” added D’Audia.

Future Perspective

Hipódromo Palermo’s goal is to continue evolving as a dynamic and open destination capable of combining tradition and innovation within a comprehensive entertainment proposal for residents and tourists alike.

The strategy for the coming years includes expanding the entertainment offering, strengthening the urban experience and consolidating the venue as a permanent meeting point for different generations.

Because Hipódromo is no longer only a horse racing venue.

It is a living, evolving and constantly moving space.

Hipódromo Palermo. 150 Years.
