Holland Casino Online Secures New Five-Year Licence
Netherlands.- 7 August 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com Holland Casino Online has secured a new five-year remote gambling licence, enabling it to continue offering products within the regulated Netherlands market.
The authorisation will take effect on 1 October 2026 and extend the company’s legal online operations until at least 2031.
News Details
The licence was granted by the Netherlands Gambling Authority, which supervises online casino and betting operations in the country.
Holland Casino was among the first group of operators authorised when the regulated market formally launched on 1 October 2021.
Its original five-year permit covered casino games played against the operator, peer-to-peer casino games and wagering on sporting events.
The new authorisation will allow the company to maintain this portfolio under current requirements concerning customer protection, addiction prevention, integrity and financial controls.
Industry Context
The approval comes as the first operators admitted to the Dutch regulated market are required to apply for new licences ahead of the expiry of their original permits.
The regulator introduced additional requirements for applications submitted during 2026. Businesses must provide an exit plan explaining how they would wind down their offering and return customer funds if their licence ended.
Applicants must also submit an anti-money laundering risk assessment and explain how they will promptly notify the regulator of significant changes to their policies or operations.
The process includes a renewed assessment of addiction-prevention measures, advertising policies, technology systems and each operator’s previous compliance record.
Statements
Petra de Ruiter, Chief Executive Officer of Holland Casino, said:
“We will continue to commit to a safe and responsible online offering, where player protection always comes first.”
She added:
“At the same time, it remains essential that the regulated market is attractive enough to keep players away from unregulated providers, where supervision and protection are lacking.”
Next Steps or Impact
The new licence provides operational continuity for one of the best-known brands in the Dutch market and confirms that the company successfully completed the regulatory reassessment process.
Holland Casino will continue adapting to an environment of increased regulatory pressure, tighter advertising restrictions and higher taxation.
The gambling tax rate reached 37.8% of gross gaming revenue during 2026 after increasing to 34.2% in January 2025.
The company will seek to maintain a competitive and responsible proposition that helps retain customers within the legal market amid continued competition from unlicensed platforms.
