Zona de Azar Colombia – Coljuegos Organized a National Forum to Promote Legality in Games

Colombia.- July 12, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com Coljuegos, the gaming regulatory entity in Colombia, organized a national forum in Cali to promote legality in the sector and combat illegal betting.

In the National Forum for Legality, authorities and unions committed to carrying out awareness campaigns and dismantling criminal structures that finance illegal activities, in order to protect resources destined for health.

Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of Coljuegos, highlighted that illegality in the sector generates annual losses of more than COP 1.5 trillion. For this reason, regional agreements are being signed to prevent illegal ones from continuing to operate in the market.

The forum, organized by the Government and the Valle del Cauca Lottery, and supported by concessionaires such as Gane and Supergiros, had the participation of lottery managers from several regions, all associated with the Colombian Lottery Federation (Fedelco). Rubén Felipe Lagarejo, manager of the Valle del Cauca Lottery and director of Fedelco, emphasized the importance of inter-institutional efforts to prevent illegality and promote awareness about the regulations of the sector.

Participants also pointed out the need to continue combating activities such as “white” chance, counterfeiting of lottery tickets, clandestine casinos and bingos, and unauthorized online betting. Coljuegos has signed 23 pacts for legality and has seized and destroyed more than 6,700 items used for illegal betting, in addition to blocking more than 15,521 unauthorized web portals.
