The formal accusation released by the FA states that the Brazilian forced yellow cards in matches played between November 2022 and December 2023, three in the last season and one in the current one.

Paquetá allegedly breached four rules of the FA’s anti-betting rules and according to the federation, Paquetá’s case is more serious than that of other athletes such as Stratford Town full-back Kynan Isaac.

Kynan Isaac received a 10-year ban after betting on a yellow card for him. According to the FA, Paquetá “sought to directly influence the development, development or any other aspect or occurrence of these matches by intentionally seeking to receive a card from the referee for the improper purpose of affecting the betting market so that one or more persons could benefit from the bets.” .
