Light & Wonder Highlights Its Ability to Enter New Markets
USA.- November 06, 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Light & Wonder reaffirmed its confidence in the growth of its iGaming business and highlighted its ability to rapidly enter new markets, despite an international landscape marked by increasing regulatory and tax pressures.
Overview: International Expansion and iGaming Resilience
Light & Wonder President and CEO Matt Wilson emphasized that the company continues to maintain a strong position in the global gaming industry, with its international expansion strategy moving forward despite ongoing regulatory challenges.
During the presentation of its third-quarter 2026 financial results, Wilson highlighted the resilience of the company’s market share in the United Kingdom, where the remote gaming duty increased to 40% in April.
The company also faced regulatory challenges in Brazil, where it was forced to disable some of its content following restrictions introduced by the government.
“We remain confident in our iGaming roadmap and expect this segment to continue to contribute steadily to our growth,” Wilson stated.
iGaming Revenue Increased by 13%
Light & Wonder reported that revenue from its iGaming division reached US$97 million in the third quarter, representing a 13% year-on-year increase.
This performance was primarily driven by expansion across North America, the strengthening of its commercial partner network, and the international distribution of gaming content.
Wilson also highlighted the opportunities offered by the Canadian market, particularly following developments in Alberta and the consolidation of Ontario as a regulated gaming jurisdiction.
“Alberta is ramping up following its July opening, and we expect the country to be a meaningful contributor to growth, supported by continued momentum in Ontario and other provinces looking to legalise iGaming,” he noted.
The executive emphasized that one of Light & Wonder’s main competitive advantages lies in its game development and distribution model.
“The beauty of our business is that we build our content once and deploy it globally, so we are ready to move quickly as new markets open,” Wilson explained.
SciPlay Faces Challenges and Appoints New Leadership
Despite the growth of its iGaming business, the company’s consolidated results reflected challenges in other operating divisions.
Light & Wonder’s total revenue declined by 2% year-on-year to US$824 million, while SciPlay, its social casino division, recorded a 12% decrease.
The company attributed this performance to broader weakness in the free-to-play social casino market and the continued presence of sweepstakes operators in jurisdictions where regulators have challenged their legality.
At the same time, Light & Wonder announced a leadership transition at SciPlay.
Matthieu Labbat was appointed as the division’s new CEO, replacing Joshua Wilson, whose contract ended on October 30.
Matt Wilson reaffirmed SciPlay’s strategic importance within the group’s portfolio, highlighting its ability to leverage investments in gaming content and conduct user testing to support the development of new titles.
Financial Performance and 2028 Targets
From a financial perspective, Light & Wonder reported US$163 million in profit, representing a 7% year-on-year increase.
Meanwhile, adjusted EBITDA for the quarter reached US$383 million, reflecting a modest improvement compared with the same period of the previous year.
The company continues to pursue its strategic target of achieving US$2 billion in adjusted EBITDA by 2028, although Wilson acknowledged that reaching this milestone would involve significant challenges.
The executive admitted that certain business divisions had performed below both internal and external expectations, particularly SciPlay and gaming systems.
However, he highlighted that gaming operations, Grover Gaming, and the iGaming segment delivered results above initial projections.
Future Outlook: Agility to Capture New Opportunities
Looking ahead, Light & Wonder will continue focusing on market diversification, technological innovation, and the distribution of its gaming content across multiple platforms.
The company believes its ability to develop products centrally and distribute them internationally represents a competitive advantage amid constant regulatory changes.
In an environment where tax pressures and operational restrictions continue to shape industry growth, Light & Wonder aims to strengthen its global presence through a flexible strategy designed to rapidly adapt to new jurisdictions and commercial opportunities.
