Brazil: EstrelaBet and Sportradar Promote Workshop on Sports Integrity

Brazil.- March 28, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com The initiative brought together professional team athletes, club executives, and members of the coaching staff at Criciúma’s headquarters in Santa Catarina.
This action is part of a series of measures by EstrelaBet with its sponsored clubs, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sports integrity and the prevention of match-fixing.
Sportradar, present in more than 80 countries, led the training session focused on raising awareness among professionals about the risks of sports fraud, the methods used by fixers, and the legal and disciplinary consequences involved.
In its annual report, Sportradar analyzed more than 850,000 matches across 70 sports in 2024. A total of 1,108 suspicious matches were recorded across 12 different sports, marking a nearly 17% decrease compared to 2023. Football once again led the number of suspicious match cases, with 721. Awareness initiatives can play a crucial role in further reducing the number of reported suspicious matches.
According to Frederico Gabrich, Chief Legal Officer at EstrelaBet, the workshop plays a crucial role in protecting the sports ecosystem:
“Addressing match-fixing with teams is essential to protecting athletes, clubs, championships, and also the betting market. Clear and objective information is one of the key tools to ensure a safe and transparent sports environment.”
During the training, participants learned about different types of fraud, how fixers approach athletes, the risks of engaging in illegal betting, and the measures to take when faced with suspicious proposals. The content was presented interactively, with space for questions and clarifications.
“It is essential that our athletes and coaching staff are prepared to recognize risky situations and know how to act in the face of any match-fixing attempts. We greatly value this initiative and thank EstrelaBet and Sportradar,” said Carlos Fernandes, Executive Director of the club.
Felippe Marchetti, Integrity Partnerships Manager at Sportradar Brazil, highlighted the participants’ engagement:
“It was very rewarding to see the interest of Criciúma’s athletes during the presentation. Education and awareness are fundamental to protecting sports and combating practices such as match-fixing, which harm everyone involved.”
