Zona de Azar Brasil – CGS Rio 2025: SPA Highlights Regulation and Supervision in Brazil

Brazil.- February 26, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com The Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance (SPA-MF) participated on Monday (24/2) in a panel at CGS Rio 2025, an event organized in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) by CGS Events, a conference platform for the gaming industry in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The meeting brought together regulators, operators, suppliers, and industry experts until Tuesday (25/2) to discuss advancements in the regulation of Brazil’s gaming market.

The SPA-MF’s Undersecretary for Monitoring and Supervision, Fábio Macorin, highlighted the work carried out by the Secretariat throughout 2024. He emphasized the publication of all sector regulations and the authorization of nearly 70 operators the previous year.

Macorin also stressed the SPA-MF‘s supervisory actions in combating the illegal market, including measures applied to payment institutions involved in the sector. Additionally, he reinforced the defense of lottery operations by states and the Federal District, provided they respected the territorial limits of each federative unit, as established by current legislation.

Another key point addressed by the Undersecretary was the inclusion of the National Betting System’s creation in the SPA 2025-2026 Regulatory Agenda. According to him, this initiative aimed to harmonize rules and procedures applied by the Union, states, and the Federal District, promoting greater legal security and standardization of industry practices.

The Undersecretary participated in a panel alongside Valter Delfraro Junior, Government Relations and Business Development Executive in Brazil for GLI – the first gaming platform certification company authorized by SPA – and Paulo Horn, President of the Special Commission on Sports Betting and Lotteries of the OAB-RJ.
