Zona de Azar USA – AGA CEO Reflects on Gaming Sector’s 2023 Achievements
The AGA was committed to research this year, commissioning analysis that outlined the economic benefits of gambling. The study revealed gaming contributes $330bn to the US economy, supports 1.8 million jobs and generates $53bn in tax revenue.
The AGA also monitored public opinion of gambling, stating that 71% of Americans recognize the positive economic impact the industry has on communities.
Research was not the only area of importance. The AGA continued to encourage responsible gaming, developing the first guide to anti-human trafficking and establishing a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force.
Further to this, the AGA continued to advocate for industry priorities in Washington DC, working with the IRS Advisory Council in its 2023 report to the IRS Commissioner. These advocacy efforts also included assisting with the anti-money laundering agenda through regular engagement with the US Department of Treasury.
The AGA continued to fight illegal gambling, making significant progress in Kentucky and Virginia by successfully banning ‘skill’ machines and working with gaming regulators, state attorney generals and US Attorneys to gain support in its efforts to tackle illegal gambling.
Miller also reflected on global industry events, such as G2E Asia and G2E Las Vegas, the latter of which brought 25,000+ gaming professionals together from around the world.
Miller remarked: “As we look to 2024, I’m energized by our industry’s momentum and the support of AGA members to advance our priorities. I know that by working together, we will ensure that gaming thrives next year and into the future.”
