Plannatech Secures Ohio Licence to Operate Prime Sports
United States.- 17 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Plannatech has received approval from the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) to operate Prime Sports in the state. The authorisation will allow the mobile sportsbook to resume activity in Ohio following a pause of approximately one month while regulators reviewed its new owner.
News Details
Plannatech previously served as Prime Sports’ platform provider and took control of the operator after its former parent company, Out the Gate, entered Chapter 11 reorganisation. A Delaware bankruptcy court approved the restructuring plan and transfer of operations on 21 May 2026.
Prime Sports continued operating in New Jersey and Kentucky, where regulators had already approved the new buyer. In Ohio, the sportsbook stopped accepting wagers for roughly a month while the OCCC completed its due diligence. Plannatech also operates the Betcris brand in Arizona.
The company had originally aimed to secure all approvals before the FIFA World Cup. Although the Ohio licence arrived with only the tournament’s final matches remaining, the relaunch comes just weeks before the start of the American football season, one of the most important periods for the US sports betting market.
Industry Context
Prime Sports will celebrate its third anniversary in Ohio in September. Although it remains one of the state’s smaller sportsbooks, its betting handle has increased considerably, rising from almost $4.5 million in December 2023 to more than $22 million in December 2025. The latter result placed Prime ninth among Ohio’s 13 licensed operators.
Prime Sports does not intend to compete directly with the largest national operators on scale. Instead, its strategy focuses on customer service and maintaining a closer relationship with bettors.
Statements
Plannatech CEO Adam Bjorn said only a small number of Ohio customers withdrew their funds during the suspension:
âIt was an unusual situation, but I believe that is where we started to build up that trust in what we are trying to do.â
Bjorn also outlined the company’s regulatory philosophy:
âI believe regulation should channel customers into safe, transparent markets and not inadvertently push them away.â
Discussing Prime Sports’ positioning, he added:
âI think we are also more of a community-based structure, where you have access to the CEO. Any issues you may have get attention.â
Next Steps or Impact
Following the licence approval, Prime Sports is expected to resume taking wagers in Ohio under Plannatech’s ownership. The operator will aim to rebuild activity ahead of the American football season and continue the growth recorded in the state over recent years.
