Super Group Targets Three New Zealand Licences
New Zealand.- 7 August 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com Super Group expects to apply for three online casino licences in New Zealand, the maximum number permitted for each operator under the country’s new regulatory process.
The company confirmed its plans after reporting a 14% year-on-year increase in revenue from the New Zealand market during the second quarter of 2026.
News Details
Super Group has operated in New Zealand through its Betway brand for several years and intends to participate in the forthcoming auction managed by the Department of Internal Affairs.
The new framework provides for the allocation of 15 online casino licences, with each operator limited to a maximum of three authorisations.
Interested companies must submit an expression of interest and demonstrate access to at least NZD 7.5 million in capital.
The regulated market is expected to begin operating during 2027.
Industry Context
Super Group’s New Zealand revenue increased by 14% compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous year, despite lower marketing expenditure.
This performance contributed to a 6% increase in revenue across the Rest of World segment.
European revenue rose by 19% to USD 132 million, supported partly by market-share gains in the United Kingdom.
The company also improved cross-selling between sports betting and casino during the FIFA World Cup. Approximately 50% of the new customers acquired during the tournament engaged with casino products.
Statements
Alinda van Wyk, Chief Financial Officer at Super Group, said:
“We have been operating in New Zealand for many years, and it already has quite a significant tax regime.”
She confirmed that the company would “probably apply for three licences” through the licensing process.
Discussing its approach during the regulatory transition, Van Wyk stated:
“At the time of the re-regulation, there was a lot of noise around marketing. We did not market there because you do not want to fall into the trap of being considered a bad actor.”
Super Group Chief Executive Officer Neal Menashe said New Zealand contributed to the year-on-year growth of the Rest of World segment.
Next Steps or Impact
Super Group must complete the expression-of-interest process and participate in the licence auction before submitting its final applications.
The company will compete with other international operators for a limited number of authorisations. Entain has also confirmed its intention to seek three licences.
Alongside its expansion plans, Super Group raised its full-year revenue guidance from more than USD 2.55 billion to over USD 2.6 billion.
Adjusted EBITDA guidance increased to more than USD 710 million. During the second quarter, adjusted EBITDA reached USD 204 million, compared with USD 157 million one year earlier, while the company moved from a USD 3 million loss to a USD 123 million profit.
