Brazil.- September 5, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com Kambi has recently denied allegations of a possible acquisition by Genius Sports. Rumors suggested that Genius Sports had approached Kambi to expand its operations; however, this information was quickly dismissed.
Kambi’s chairman, Anders Ström, was adamant in stating that the company is not involved in such discussions. Ström said: “Although Kambi tends not to comment on rumors and speculation, I can confirm that Kambi is not involved in such discussions.”
Additionally, the market reacted positively to this response. Shares of the Swedish sports betting company increased by 14.8%, from 114.50 SEK on September 3 to 131.50 SEK on September 4.
Genius Sports also addressed the rumors. CEO Mark Locke stated: “As a policy, we do not comment on unfounded and poorly informed rumors. To avoid any further speculation, we can confirm that we are not involved in any discussions of this nature with Kambi.”
Kambi’s Board of Directors has revised its financial targets for 2027 due to underperformance in key regulated markets globally.
Moreover, if this acquisition were to happen, it would follow a similar trend to another recent deal. In this context, the Betsson Group acquired verticals from Sporting Solutions of the FDJ Group, aiming to enhance its sports betting offerings in both B2C and B2B sectors.
