Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: CPI on Match-Fixing to Hear from Investigator in Money Laundering Case
Brazil.- October 8, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com The CPI (Parliamentary Inquiry Committee) on Match-Fixing in Sports Betting will hear next Wednesday (8) from Commissioner Daniel Mostardeiro Cola, General Coordinator for Corruption, Financial Crimes, and Money Laundering at the Federal Police. The meeting is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
The invitation request (REQ 59/2024 — CPIMJAE) was proposed by Senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE). In the original request, the lawmaker had suggested hearing from the Federal Police Director-General, Andrei Rodrigues, but he will be represented at the meeting by Daniel Cola.
The CPI was established in April of this year to investigate allegations and suspicions of match-fixing in Brazilian football, involving athletes, officials, and betting companies. The committee’s work will continue until February 2025.
The request for the creation of the committee was first signed by Senator Romário (PL-RJ), who was appointed rapporteur by CPI President, Senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO). The committee consists of 11 full members and 7 alternates.
