Zona de Azar USA – NBC Sports Extends its Multi-Year Partnership with CDI
USA.- May 07, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has extended its current partnership with NBC Sports. The duo will continue to collaborate under a new multi-year agreement that extends past 2030.
The two first began their partnership in 2001. Under the terms of the new extension, NBC Sports will continue airing the Kentucky Derby on both its regular network and on Peacock through 2032.
The amended agreement will also allow the network to have multiplatform rights to both the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oats as well as retain Oaks Day programming. Horseracing fans can watch these programs on the NBC, Peacock, USA Network and additional NBCU platforms.
2024 marks the 150-year anniversary of the Kentucky Derby. CDI CEO Bill Carstanjen noted that the company’s extended partnership with NBC Sports adds more excitement to an already significant horseracing milestone.
“As we celebrate the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs is proud to extend the relationship with NBC Sports,” Carstanjen said.
“As our media partner for the last 23 years, NBC has artfully captured the most exciting two minutes in sports and the spectacle of the senses that surrounds it.”
NBC Sports President Rick Cordella said the company is eager to continue its collaboration with CDI.
He elaborated further by saying, “Telling the rich stories surrounding the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May is part of the fabric of NBC Sports, and we are thrilled to continue that tradition with Churchill Downs.”
“We look forward to surrounding the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby with wall-to-wall coverage and extensive promotion on the platforms of NBCUniversal.”
CDI currently operates historical racing machines in Kentucky and was recently issued customary approving licenses by the Virginia Racing Commission, the New York State Gaming Commission and the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.
