Brazil Records More Than 15 Million Bettors in Early 2026

Brazil.– 22 July 2026 – www.zonadeazar.com  Brazil’s regulated betting market recorded 15.2 million unique bettors and generated Gross Gaming Revenue of BRL 7.6 billion during the first quarter of 2026. More than half of all customers placed bets through two or more platforms.

More Than 15 Million Unique Bettors

Brazil’s Ministry of Finance has released a detailed report examining bettor behaviour within the country’s regulated market during the first three months of 2026.

The information was collected by the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) through the Betting Management System, known as Sigap, which is used by the government to monitor activity involving authorised operators.

Between January and March 2026, a total of 15,186,243 citizens identified through unique CPF numbers placed at least one bet with regulated platforms.

The figure illustrates the reach achieved by the formal market during the period and provides a clearer measurement of the number of people who actively participated in authorised betting operations.

Using unique CPF numbers prevents the same bettor from being counted repeatedly when holding accounts with several companies. This distinction is particularly relevant because a substantial proportion of Brazilian customers use more than one betting platform.

Men Account for 68% of Registered Bettors

The report also provides demographic information about the participants. Men represented 68.01% of all bettors, while women accounted for 31.99%.

Customers aged between 31 and 40 formed the largest group, representing 28.85% of the total. Bettors between 25 and 30 ranked second with a 22.08% share.

People aged 24 or under accounted for 21.66%, placing this group close behind those aged between 25 and 30.

Taken together, the figures show that a significant proportion of the registered audience was concentrated within younger and middle-aged groups. The results offer a more precise view of the customers using licensed platforms in Brazil.

Most Customers Use Multiple Platforms

One of the report’s most significant findings concerns the simultaneous use of different operators. According to the official data, 55.64% of bettors used two or more platforms to place their wagers.

A total of 44.36% remained with a single operator, while 17.96% used two companies and 9.89% divided their betting activity between three.

A further 27.78% maintained registrations with four or more betting operators. This percentage demonstrates a notable level of participation among customers who distribute their activity across several brands.

At the end of March, the government system recorded 97,905,739 active operator accounts and 113,347,716 links involving different brands.

The difference between unique bettors, active accounts and brand links confirms that many customers have a presence on several platforms.

These figures therefore measure separate aspects of the regulated market. The unique CPF total identifies individual people, while the other numbers represent accounts or commercial relationships established with authorised brands.

Regulated Market Generates BRL 7.6 Billion in GGR

Brazil’s regulated betting industry generated Gross Gaming Revenue of BRL 7.6 billion during the first quarter of 2026.

GGR represents the difference between the amount wagered by customers and the prizes paid by operators. It should not be confused with the total betting turnover or the amount deposited into customer accounts. Instead, it measures the gross revenue produced by betting activity before other business costs are considered.

The quarterly result provides an indication of the economic scale reached by Brazil’s regulated betting sector during the first three months of the year.

BRL 914 Million Allocated to Public Purposes

Of the revenue generated during the period, BRL 914 million was distributed to social and public purposes established under Brazilian legislation.

Sport received the largest allocation, amounting to BRL 329.1 million. Tourism ranked second with BRL 256 million, followed by public security, which received BRL 124.3 million.

Education and social security were each allocated BRL 91.4 million. Healthcare received a further BRL 9.1 million.

The distribution identifies how part of the resources produced by regulated betting activity is directed towards different areas serving the public.

The first-quarter report consequently provides a combined picture of Brazil’s regulated market, covering the number of unique bettors, demographic composition, multi-platform activity, active accounts, gross revenue and the allocation of funds.

Information gathered through Sigap also gives the authorities measurable data with which to monitor the market’s development in subsequent reporting periods.

The distinction between individual bettors and multiple accounts is especially important when interpreting the scale of the sector. While more than 15 million people placed bets during the quarter, their activity was spread across a much larger number of accounts and brand relationships.

This official measurement offers a detailed view of both customer participation and the financial contribution generated by the regulated Brazilian betting industry during the opening quarter of 2026.
