Player Markets Drive Growth
The expansion of OpenBet’s BetBuilder and Player Props offering was one of the tournament’s biggest growth drivers, introducing new markets such as ‘Either Player to Score’ and ‘Player to Be Fouled’.
More than 23 million Player Prop bets were processed during the competition, representing a 130% increase compared with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The final between Spain and Argentina generated 831,000 BetBuilder bets, a 39% increase over the previous World Cup final.
OpenBet also reported a significant shift in betting behavior. Half of the 20 most popular betting combinations included player goals or player statistics selections, while wagers on player statistics markets increased almost fivefold compared to the previous World Cup.
Live betting continued to gain momentum throughout the knockout stage, accounting for roughly one in every six bets placed, with significantly higher average stakes than pre-match wagers.
