Wagers of Up to BRL 50 Led Brazilian Betting Transactions

Brazil.- 31 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Transactions worth up to BRL 50 accounted for approximately 74% of all betting-platform transactions in Brazil during the second quarter of 2026, confirming the dominance of low-value activity within the regulated market.

Despite representing almost three out of every four transactions, this segment generated around 23% of the total financial value analysed. The figures come from a study by technology and data-intelligence company Paag, based on transactions processed across its customer base between April and June.

News Details

Transactions worth up to BRL 20 comprised approximately 45% of total volume, while accounting for only 8% of the money handled during the quarter.

Operations between BRL 20 and BRL 50 represented around 29% of transactions and 15% of total financial value. Together, these categories indicate that a substantial proportion of market activity is sustained by small and recurring deposits.

Transactions exceeding BRL 50 represented only 26% of activity but accounted for approximately 77% of the funds processed. Within this group, transactions between BRL 50 and BRL 1,000 generated 57% of the total value.

Operations above BRL 1,000, despite comprising less than 1% of all transactions, represented approximately 20% of the funds handled during the period.

Industry Context

The study found that activity increased between the 8th and 20th of each month, with the highest transaction frequency recorded between the 16th and 22nd. The 20th generated the highest participation in both transaction volume and financial value, followed by a gradual decline towards the end of each month.

Evening hours were the principal activity period, with 39% of transactions taking place between 6pm and 11pm. Customers aged between 25 and 49 accounted for approximately 80% of the total financial volume.

São Paulo remained Brazil’s leading market in both transaction numbers and value. The South and Centre-West recorded the highest average transaction values, while the North and Northeast continued to support growth in the user base.

The findings should be viewed as a market sample rather than a complete measurement of the Brazilian industry, as the report examined transactions processed through Paag’s own operator and customer network.

Statements

Paag CEO João Fraga said analysing transaction data was important for understanding the market’s development, identifying opportunities for operational improvement and strengthening bettor safety and protection.

He added that the figures provided greater predictability and revealed clear patterns dominated by microtransactions.

Next Steps or Impact

The high proportion of small transactions suggests that everyday Brazilian betting activity is driven primarily by customers making frequent, low-value movements, while a limited number of larger transactions account for a substantial share of the money processed.

For operators, this distribution may influence payment design, deposit limits, promotional strategies, risk-detection systems and responsible-gambling tools.

The financial importance of transactions exceeding BRL 1,000 also reinforces the case for differentiated monitoring of higher-spending customers, particularly in relation to behavioural risk, affordability and harm prevention.

As the regulated market produces more information, aggregated data from a broader range of providers and operators should provide a more representative view of Brazilian betting behaviour.
