Delta and DraftKings Launch Free In-Flight Sports Game

United States.- 31 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Delta Air Lines and DraftKings have announced the launch of SkyPicks, a free-to-play sports prediction experience available through Delta’s onboard entertainment and connectivity platform, Delta Sync.

The product will allow passengers to take part in contests connected with real sporting events but will not include real-money betting, deposits, entry fees or financial risk.

News Details

SkyPicks will be available to Delta SkyMiles members aged 21 and over, who can participate using mobile phones or laptops during their flights.

Customers will make predictions linked to sporting events and compete for Delta Gift Cards that can be used towards future travel. The experience will initially feature Major League Baseball contests, with NFL match-ups expected to follow later in 2026.

Delta described the product as a sports-knowledge and entertainment contest. Customers cannot use real money, SkyMiles or any other item of financial value to enter.

Industry Context

The Delta and DraftKings collaboration was first outlined at CES 2025, when the companies announced plans to develop new gaming experiences within the Delta Sync ecosystem.

From the outset, the airline specified that the proposed service would be limited to free games and would not involve any form of real-money gambling.

The restriction also reflects US federal law, which prohibits gambling devices and betting activity aboard commercial aircraft operating to, from or within the United States.

In 2024, Senator Richard Blumenthal publicly urged Delta and DraftKings not to introduce in-flight betting. SkyPicks maintains an explicit separation between sports entertainment and regulated gambling activity.

Statements

Delta Chief Marketing and Product Officer Ranjan Goswami said Delta Sync was intended to provide an onboard experience connected with the interests customers enjoy in their everyday lives.

He said SkyPicks would bring sports fandom into the cabin through a free and interactive experience for SkyMiles members.

Next Steps or Impact

The initiative expands DraftKings’ presence beyond its traditional channels and allows the company to apply its sports-product expertise within a non-transactional environment.

For Delta, SkyPicks forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen its digital onboard ecosystem through complimentary Wi-Fi, sports content, streaming services and personalised interactive experiences. Delta Sync Wi-Fi is available across more than 1,200 aircraft, with international coverage continuing to expand.

The next phase of the partnership will depend on passenger engagement and the companies’ ability to add further sports, contests and rewards while remaining within the legal restrictions governing gambling aboard aircraft.
