TDLC Allows Four Chilean Casino Tenders to Continue

On 28 July, the tribunal rejected motions for reconsideration submitted by Marina del Sol and Corporación Meier seeking to reverse an earlier decision not to suspend the Viña del Mar casino tender.
The TDLC also dismissed a request filed by Corporación Meier and Dreams to halt all tender processes covering the four municipalities.
As a result, the hearing for the submission of technical and financial offers remains scheduled for 11 August 2026 at 10:00, at the offices of the Superintendency of Gambling Casinos in Santiago.

The ruling follows a finding by Chile’s National Economic Prosecutor’s Office that the terms of the four casino tenders did not create risks to competition.
The authority assessed the potentially discriminatory nature of the conditions applying to bidders and their possible effects on the competitive intensity of the operating permit processes.
The review also covered the special conditions established under the third transitional article of the Casino Law and approved by the Superintendency’s Resolution Council.
The companies behind the legal challenges argued that some of these requirements could exceed what was necessary to achieve the public-policy objectives pursued by the legislation.
