Panama Online Gambling Grows 57%
Panama.- 14 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Panama’s regulated gambling market generated US$1.3288 billion in gross wagers between January and May 2026, representing year-on-year growth of 16.2%. Online gambling was the fastest-growing segment, while Type A slot machines retained more than 70% of total market activity.
News Details
During the first five months of the year, Type A slot machines generated US$932.4 million in wagers, up 7.3% compared with the same period in 2025. These machines can operate in full casinos, dedicated slot halls and other authorised venues.
Online gambling reached US$299.6 million, marking a 57% year-on-year increase and confirming its position as Panama’s fastest-expanding gaming segment.
Table games ranked third, generating US$74.3 million in wagers, an increase of 23%. The category includes blackjack, roulette, baccarat and poker offered by full casinos linked to hotels with more than 300 rooms.
Other verticals recorded mixed results. Wagering at Presidente Remón Racecourse fell 6.1% to US$11.4 million, while retail sports betting declined 7.5% to US$7.2 million. Bingo increased 6.4% to US$2.8 million, whereas instant games dropped 18.8% to US$1.1 million.
Industry Context
The figures reflect the gradual transformation of Panama’s gambling market as digital platforms gain greater consumer adoption. However, the continuing dominance of slot machines demonstrates that land-based gaming remains the largest source of wagering volume within the regulated sector.
The report covers casinos, racecourses, bingo halls, sports betting, online platforms, instant games and Type A slots. It excludes Type C machines, which operate under a separate regulatory framework and are commonly located in bars, restaurants and businesses outside central urban areas.
Next Steps or Impact
Continued online growth could accelerate technology investment and increase competition among regulated operators. Authorities will also need to balance digital expansion with effective supervision of the land-based market and stronger responsible gambling policies.
