Brazil: SPA and Caixa to Share FIES Debtors’ Data to Restrict Betting

Brazil.- 14 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com  OverviewThe Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA) of Brazil’s Ministry of Finance and Caixa Econômica Federal have signed a cooperation agreement to share information on beneficiaries with outstanding debts under the Student Financing Fund (FIES). The initiative aims to strengthen the protection mechanisms established under Brazil’s online betting regulations.

The agreement will enable the exchange of data between the two institutions to identify individuals with outstanding FIES obligations and support the implementation of measures предусмотрed under Brazil’s regulated betting framework. The cooperation is part of the SPA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight and enhance consumer protection.

Purpose of the Agreement

The data-sharing initiative is intended to improve monitoring mechanisms through the use of official databases, reinforcing the regulator’s supervisory capacity while promoting a safer, more transparent betting environment aligned with Brazil’s public financial protection policies.

Context

The measure complements other initiatives introduced by the Federal Government to strengthen the regulation of the online betting market, expanding cooperation between public institutions and consolidating monitoring and compliance tools within Brazil’s new regulatory framework.
