BetHog to Close as Founders Focus on AI Dealers
Global.- 21 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com BetHog, the cryptocurrency online casino and sportsbook founded by the creators of FanDuel, will cease operations on 31 July 2026. Its parent company will redirect resources and staff towards Sentient Studios, a new B2B business developing artificial intelligence-powered casino dealers.
News Details
Players will have until the end of July to withdraw any funds remaining in their accounts. The closure will take place less than two years after BetHog launched in November 2024 under former FanDuel executives Nigel Eccles and Rob Jones.
The company said BetHog’s engineering team has already shifted its attention towards Sentient Studios’ AI dealer. Technology developed for the consumer-facing operator will now be incorporated into the new business-to-business platform.
Sentient Studios was announced in April 2026 alongside a $10 million Series A funding round. The investment is intended to expand its internally developed AI dealer technology and distribute the product to third-party operators globally.
Industry Context
The platform is designed to replace elements of traditional live casino infrastructure with artificial intelligence-powered dealers, reducing reliance on physical studios and conventional staffing models.
Sentient Studios operates through a revenue-share structure with no setup fees, monthly minimums or long-term contracts. The model is intended to lower adoption barriers for online casino operators.
Its development builds on Sunny, an AI blackjack dealer introduced on BetHog in October 2025. The product is available in 12 languages and became one of the most-played games on the platform.
Statements
The company explained the reason for the strategic change:
“The move is driven by real market demand. Sentient Studios is the only company with an operational AI dealer product currently on the market.”
It added:
“BetHog’s engineering team has already shifted focus to Sentient Studios’ AI dealer. The underlying technology is being folded into Sentient Studios.”
Next Steps or Impact
Several operators are already considering licensing the product, with some expected to go live before the end of 2026. Closing BetHog will enable the company to concentrate its funding, engineering capacity and technology development on a B2B proposition for online casino operators.
The decision represents a shift away from direct-to-consumer operations towards supplying third-party gaming infrastructure, as artificial intelligence begins to play a more prominent role in live casino presentation and delivery.
