Brazil Consults on New Betting Authorisation Rules
Brazil.- 23 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com The Secretariat of Prizes and Betting at the Ministry of Finance has opened a public consultation on regulations establishing the rules for obtaining commercial fixed-odds betting authorisation. Contributions may be submitted over a 45-day period.
The notice was published in Brazil’s Official Gazette on Wednesday and aims to gather feedback from society before the SPA adopts the final regulations.
The consultation will begin on 27 July and remain open until 9 September 2026. Individuals, companies, associations and other organisations interested in the regulated market may participate.
Participation Through Brasil Participativo
Proposals and observations must be submitted through the Brasil Participativo portal, the federal government’s platform for receiving public contributions.
Once the participation period has ended, the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting will assess all submissions in accordance with the decree governing the procedure.
The consultation will allow operators, suppliers, specialists, representative organisations and members of the public to express their views on the requirements for commercial authorisations.
New Stage for the Regulated Market
The process forms part of the programme to update Brazil’s regulatory framework and represents another stage in the organisation of the country’s fixed-odds betting market.
The SPA is the Ministry of Finance body responsible for authorising, regulating, supervising, inspecting and, where appropriate, sanctioning companies operating within the sector.
