Latin America Becomes Betsson’s Largest Market
Latin America.- 21 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Latin America became Betsson’s largest region during the second quarter of 2026 after recording year-on-year growth of 32.3%. Regional revenue reached a record €112.1 million, accounting for 36% of the group’s total revenue.
News Details
Argentina, Peru and Colombia all delivered record quarterly revenue, supported by marketing campaigns and increased customer activity during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The performance allowed Latin America to overtake Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia as Betsson’s leading geographic market. The company believes the region continues to offer greater long-term growth opportunities than Western Europe.
At group level, revenue for the quarter ended 30 June increased by 2.1% to a record €310.2 million, while organic revenue growth reached 6.1%.
Profitability declined, however. EBITDA fell by 30.5% to €58.5 million, operating income decreased by 38.9% to €42.2 million, and net profit dropped by 38.2% to €30.4 million.
Industry Context
Locally regulated markets generated 75.5% of group revenue, compared with 65.7% in the corresponding period last year. This greater exposure increased costs associated with gambling taxes and payment-provider fees.
Casino remained Betsson’s largest vertical, generating €217.6 million, equivalent to 70% of group revenue. Sports betting revenue was broadly unchanged at €91.3 million.
Ahead of the World Cup, Betsson upgraded its sportsbook platform to handle up to five times its usual traffic. It also introduced features including Goal Rush, which applies multipliers according to the number of goals scored, and Super Sub, which transfers a wager to a substitute when the originally selected player is replaced.
Statements
Betsson CEO Pontus Lindwall said:
“As in previous quarters, the strongest growth came from Latin America, which grew by 32% to new record levels and is now our largest region.”
Discussing the impact of the World Cup, he added:
“The increase was broad-based and received an additional boost from the FIFA World Cup, which contributed to high activity among both new and existing customers.”
On the decline in profitability, Lindwall stated:
“The higher share of revenue from locally regulated markets, and the resulting gambling taxes, once again explains the lower profitability compared with the same period last year.”
Next Steps or Impact
Betsson secured a sportsbook licence in the Argentine province of Santa Fe during the quarter and plans to launch there in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The company also arranged a new €75 million credit facility to support future acquisitions. Between 1 and 13 July, average daily revenue was 13.7% higher than the average recorded in the third quarter of 2025, supported by continued World Cup betting activity.
