Sportingbet Becomes Vasco da Gama’s Principal Sponsor
Brazil.- 28 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Sportingbet has been announced as the new principal sponsor of Vasco da Gama, after the Brazilian club spent almost seven months without a company occupying the main position on its shirt.
The brand made its debut on the men’s team kit on 25 July during a 1-1 draw against Mirassol at São Januário in Rio de Janeiro. The partnership will also extend to the women’s team and include fan-engagement campaigns, infrastructure improvements and community projects.
News Details
Sportingbet will occupy the primary position on Vasco’s shirt and intends to build a long-term relationship through activations, experiences and projects connected directly with the club and its supporters.
The women’s team will wear the new shirt for the first time on 1 August against Minas Brasília in the Brazilian Championship. The sponsorship will therefore cover both the men’s and women’s football operations.
A central element of the agreement will be a gamified supporter-engagement programme. Fans will be invited to complete a series of missions through a dedicated landing page, with benefits and investments unlocked for the club as collective objectives are achieved.
The first mission asks supporters to select Vasco as their favourite club on Sportingbet’s platform, without any requirement to place a bet. Once the target is reached, funding will be directed towards improvements at the club’s training centre.
Industry Context
The programme will also include activities for supporters across the state of Rio de Janeiro, fans living elsewhere in Brazil and residents of Barreira do Vasco, the community located close to São Januário.
The strategy seeks to move beyond conventional shirt exposure by creating a sponsorship model centred on fan participation and tangible institutional benefits.
Sportingbet is consequently expanding its presence within Brazilian football, where it also serves as Palmeiras’ principal sponsor.
Statements
Vasco President Pedrinho said the club had been seeking a strong international brand aligned with its reconstruction project. He added that the partnership was intended to support the men’s team, women’s football and the club’s infrastructure.
Sportingbet Head of Latin America Antonio Forjaz said the value of a shirt sponsorship extended far beyond displaying a company name on the kit. He explained that the programme had been developed to reward supporters while allowing their engagement to contribute directly to structural improvements.
Vasco Director of Business and Marketing João Vítor Assunção said the jointly developed activation calendar was decisive in completing the agreement and turning supporter participation into concrete benefits.
Next Steps or Impact
Sportingbet will continue rolling out missions through its gamified programme during the year, with further targets intended to generate investment for the training centre, the local community and other areas of the club.
The brand’s presence across both the men’s and women’s teams will broaden the partnership’s reach and combine sporting exposure, digital engagement, infrastructure and social initiatives.
The agreement may also provide a reference for emerging sponsorship models in Brazil in which fan participation directly influences the projects funded by the commercial partner.
