Zona de Azar UK – Sky Bet Partners with York Racecourse for Charity
UK.- July 18, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com Sky Bet has partnered with York Racecourse to bring the Sky Bet Ebor Festival charity event to life.
Charities and local groups have until 31 July to enter themselves into the mix, after which 22 of them will be shortlisted and matched with a runner in the race.
A live TV draw will take place on 22 August to match the causes to their designated horse, then the race will be on 24 August.
Michael Shinners, Head of Sports PR at Sky Betting & Gaming, commented: “Last year’s event was a great success, and we’re excited to continue this tradition and support these worthy causes.
“Not only does the festival provide vital financial support but it also provides a platform for these organisations to showcase their remarkable work.
“It’s amazing to see the positive changes these donations have brought to local charities in the past, so we encourage all eligible causes to apply and join us this year at another exciting event.”
The amount the organisations receive will depend on where the horses place on the leaderboard.
First place will take the £20,000 ($26,000) amount, although second place and third place will take £5,000 and £2,000 respectively.
The rest of the charities and organisations will get £1,000 towards their projects just for taking part.
Last year, Frankie Dettori rode Absurde to victory, netting the self-advocacy group Sheffield Voices the prize money.
Kathryn Littlewood, Manager of Sheffield Voices, said: “The £20,000 prize has made a tremendous impact on our self-advocacy project for young people, bringing them together and giving them a voice to allow them to make changes and live their lives the way they want to.
“The initiative not only provides crucial funding but also raises awareness for the incredible work done by local charities.
“It’s such a fantastic opportunity and an amazing day out, so we encourage all Yorkshire-based good causes to participate.”
